Part 5 of a series of blogs from the hospital bed from Alice Smith called ‘Connecting to the mother keyboard.’ This one inspired by the snap of an ankle breaking .

Snap! goes the summer, sunshine
down that rabbit hole where
the drugs work. Drool.
Sweet Mr Blue
legally prescribed for you. Fool.
Snap! goes the plans to lie in the grass
listening to the grass grow
in a blue sky natural high
No! Sigh……
Snap! goes your idea of who you are,
bed pan insert enema
you’re not what you were
you’re still hot
(that’s the morphine mrs…….?)
Snap! goes your walkies,
let your mental health off the leash
7 days to delirium.
Lapse into collapse.
Because……
Snap! goes being seen
Invisible body but visible debilitation
this time……..
Physical pain – temporary,
Full time full mind pain.
No gain.
Snap!
Fix me (quick) then squeeze me slow
because…
the drugs don’t work anymore – you know.
Alice is recovering from a serious injury and writing a serious of blogs from the hospital bed called ‘Connecting to the mother keyboard.’
